GENERAL INFORMATION
Kindergarten: Must be 5 yrs old by December 1st. According To California State Law.
First Grade: Children Must Be 6 yrs old by December 1st. According To California State Law.
School Hours: 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Curriculum
The basic curriculum for all elementary schools in the Los Angeles Archdioceses includes the following:

The total curriculum is coordinated from kindergarten through the eight grade. Teachers evaluate and review curriculum areas according to Archdiocesan Guidelines and participate in the WASC/WCEA accrediting process every six years.
Homework
Homework is reinforcement, extension and/or preparation of materials covered in the classroom and allows the student an opportunity to work independently. As reinforcement, assignments should cover skills previously taught and which are understood by the majority of the class. As extension, long term projects such as compositions, books reports, research projects, and oral presentation maybe assigned. Homework is generally assigned Monday through Friday. On various occasions, homework may not be assigned over special events.
Homework Time Allotment
All grades are to read daily for approximately 30 to 45 minutes
Kindergarten, First and Second Grade: Not exceeding one hour
Grades Three – Five Not exceeding two hours
Grades Six – Eight Not exceeding three hours
Scholastic Honor Roll
For the purpose of determining Honor Roll eligibility, the following academic subjects are averaged: Religion, English, Spelling, Math, Social Studies and Science.
An “A” = 4.0, “B” = 3.0, “C” = 2.0
A student from grades Three to Eight who earns a grade point average of 3.5, “B+” or higher in academic subjects, with no more than five absences and three tardies within a trimester is eligible for the Scholastic Honor Roll.
Principal’s Honor Roll
A student with an “o” in Effort, “A” in conduct and no more than five absences and three tardies within a trimester is eligible for the Principal’s
Honor Roll.
Virtue of the Month
Each month all the students enrolled in Santa Rosa will be encouraged to exercise a particular virtue, i.e. kindness, generosity, peace, etc. Teachers will choose two to four students in their classes each month who have exhibited this virtue for recognition by the Principal to be “Instruments of Peace”.
