FIFTH grade is preparing for the transition to middle school by strengthening old skills and BUILDING new ones.
In Fifth grade one of our goals is getting ready for middle school and beyond with a strong focus on math skills, literature, and our nation's history. In fifth grade instead of learning to read, we now are reading to learn. We will explore our faith in order to come to a deeper understanding of how to express our faith in today's world and to deepen our relationship with God. Whether certain subjects are easy or difficult for your child, the willingness to learn will make all the difference in whether your child succeeds or fails. It is important the you encourage your child to read many different types of materials throughout the summer. Whatever her favorite subjects are, have her read about them on the Internet and in magazines, newspapers and books. Go to the library, local librarians can suggest books that your child may like and that match her reading level. Involve your child in solving everyday math problems. For example, take her shopping and let her guess what the grocery bill will be. We look forward to seeing you all in August.
